Yvonne Galloway

Yvonne Galloway is a technical lead of the Epidemiology Team in the Health Intelligence and Surveillance Group.

Qualifications

Yvonne earned her BSc in Mathematics from Victoria University and Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics from Massey University.

About

Yvonne leads a team of epidemiology analysts and epidemiologists. The team undertakes notifiable disease surveillance and provides advice and intelligence reporting. Yvonne’s interests span a wide range of diseases, notably vaccine preventable diseases, meningococcal disease, rheumatic fever and invasive group A streptococcal infection. She set up hospital-based surveillance for rotavirus after a vaccine was added to the routine immunisation schedule and contributed to an evaluation of the rheumatic fever prevention programme (RFPP). Yvonne previously worked at the Ministry of Health on the MeNZB vaccination programme and was involved in evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine. Following that she was a team leader in the Ministry’s Health and Disability Intelligence Team working on non-communicable diseases.
