About

Jessie has always had a passion for Forensic Science, stemming from a desire to help people who cannot help themselves. The work she does here at PHF Science allows her to apply her expertise to assist the court with forensic evidence and insights. At PHF Science Jessie works in the Physical Evidence Team as well as the Service Centre team, where she undergoes detection, collection and analysis of items in the laboratory and at crime scenes for trace elements, body fluids and other forensically relevant evidence. As part of her role at PHF Science she has been involved in many research projects, with one being a collaboration with the New Zealand Police Fingerprint division. Lastly, she completed her MSc with PHF Science, looking at the use of Diamond Nucleic Acid Dye to locate both finger mark and touch DNA on non-porous items obtained from drug seizures. Jessie enjoys the variety that PHF Science can offer and is proud in what they contribute to New Zealand.
