About

Daniel is the Manager of the Food and Risk Assessment Group and the Service Lead for the Environmental Health portfolio contracted to the National Public Health Service - Health Protection. With an MSc. in Biochemistry, he brings a diverse background, having worked in both the food industry and the Blood Service before joining PHF Science. In his current role, Daniel leads a team of scientists specialising in environmental health, food safety, and risk assessment. The team provides scientific services and research for a broad range of clients, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry for Primary Industries, and the New Zealand Food Safety Science and Research Centre. Daniel’s team also works with the Public Health Agency and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand), as well as local government. Daniel particularly enjoys the extensive breadth of scientific disciplines within the group and finds it rewarding to witness the tangible impact of PHF Science’s work on New Zealand's economy, people and the environment.
