Chrissy Black

Chrissy Black is Senior Scientist in the Forensic Business (Forensic Drug Chemistry Group).

Qualifications

Chrissy earned her Bachelor of Forensic Science (BForSci) majoring in Forensic Chemistry and Forensic Molecular Biology and a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ).

About

Chrissy has a passion for forensic science. She moved to Brisbane Australia in 2012 to complete her BSc in Forensic Science and Criminology and Criminal Justice with majors in Forensic Molecular Biology and Forensic Chemistry. Chrissy spent 18 months performing quality testing of pharmaceuticals and method development within the Technical Services team at Alphapharm (Mylan Australia) before moving back to New Zealand to join PHF Science in June 2017. Chrissy joined PHF Science as a Senior Technician in the forensic drug chemistry team and has since moved into the position of Forensic Scientist and is now in the undergoing an intensive training program for the role of Senior Scientist. She assists with the examination and analysis of items for forensic purposes. This includes the identification and quantification of controlled drugs and reporting of non-opinion evidence. She is also involved in screening for controlled drugs in border shipments at the Customs-PHF Science-screening laboratory as well as research projects within the team.
