About

Spanning nearly 25 years Bronwyn’s career has involved investigating the fate and transport of microbial and chemical contaminants within groundwater. Bronwyn’s passion lies with connecting stakeholders with science that informs policy and planning decisions and protects environmental and public health. Her current research focus is managing a Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) project funded by the Ministry of Business and Innovation (MBIE): Enhancing Decentralised Wastewater: a science-led pathway to minimise threats to freshwater and human health. The research focuses on providing support to local and central government decisions makers with regards to decentralised wastewater (i.e., septic tanks) and the implications for housing densities, drinking water supplies and ultimately environmental and public health. Bronwyn’s skillset includes managing projects from scoping and fieldwork to analysis and reporting. She has also helped to manage the New Zealand Land Treatment Collective over the past 7 years which is an incorporated society dedicated to improving and communicating research and technology for the land treatment of waste. Her international experience has involved drinking water and wastewater management in Ethiopia, Kiribati and Tonga. She is also on the technical committee tasked with creating a new international onsite wastewater standard for the International Code Council.
