PHF Science is commencing a global search for its next Chief Executive as the organisation moves into the next phase of its development as a Public Research Organisation.
Sir Ashley Bloomfield has served as Chief Executive since August 2024, having agreed to take on the role to provide leadership and continuity through significant change in the New Zealand science system as ESR transitioned to PHF Science, the New Zealand Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science, and the new Public Research Organisation was established.
With PHF Science now firmly established and the science system reforms well advanced, the Board has begun the search for the Chief Executive who will lead the organisation through its next stage.
PHF Science Board Chair Professor Sarah Young says the recruitment represents an exciting next step for the organisation.
“PHF Science has come through a significant period of change and is now strongly positioned to build on its proud legacy and pursue the opportunities ahead.
“Our science plays a critical role in New Zealand, supporting our police and justice systems, protecting New Zealanders through infectious disease surveillance and pandemic preparedness and response, and safeguarding people from environmental hazards to health.
“The changes to the science system create opportunities for PHF Science to build on these strengths and deliver even greater impact through its services, research and innovation.
