Sample requirements |
Faecal specimen positive by rotavirus antigen test or by PCR/NAT. Minimum 0.25 g or 0.25 mL. |

Pre-transport requirements |
Store faecal specimen at 5 ± 3°C for up to 2 weeks, otherwise freeze at -20°C. |

Transport requirements |
Ambient temperature, via overnight courier to arrive within 24 hours.
Do not dispatch samples on Friday, Saturday or the day before a public holiday. |

Unacceptable sample types |
Specimens received without a form, with insufficient material to analyse, or in poorly labelled or leaking containers will not be tested. Insufficient sample (< 0.25 g or < 0.25 mL) may be rejected. |

How results reported |
Presence or absence of rotavirus by RT-qPCR (for confirmation of rotavirus presence). Genotyping report will follow. |
